Is Avatar: The Last Airbender Coming to MTG?
So far we’ve seen the likes of Final Fantasy, Spiderman, and even Spongebob Squarepants crossover into the Magic: The Gathering universe. Now it seems like we’ve gotten a bit of a teaser on the final Universes Beyond set of the year, Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Daily Deals Teasers
The screenshots and theory started from Reddit user u/HamBoneRaces who compiled a list of the MTG Arena Daily Deals. Alone the deals look thematic but may not make a lot of sense until you look at the 2025 set release schedule.
Keeping the schedule in mind, we see the first Daily Deal on January 1st that started the series was one that matched thematically with Aetherdrift, with all the artifact vehicles.

If we follow the trend and see the subsequent deals, we have Multicoloured dragons for Tarkir: Dragonstorm and Final Flare and the famous crystals that are ever present from the Final Fantasy series. We also see star and space-themed cards for Edge of Eternities, and finally a Drider and several spider cards hinting at the Spiderman set (click to see below).
Each one individually may seem like a coincidence, but combined they appear very intentional. This leads us to the Daily Deal on January 6th. If this set were to continue in the trend, it would represent the currently unannounced Universes Beyond set at the end of 2025. In the set, we see one card referencing each of the four elements in Avatar the Last Airbender as well as two additional cards with “bender” in their names.
Another reason for this to be a likely crossover is that we already have a Spongebob Squarepants Secret Lair that has been confirmed. Nickelodeon owns both Spongebob and The Last Airbender, making this an even likelier crossover as it follows the pattern of the Marvel crossovers with various Secret Lairs and sets.
Looking further into the comments, Magic players around the world seem united in that this is definitely a teaser for Avatar the Last Airbender. This also matches well with the show celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
Should ATLA really come to Magic: The Gathering, it will find its place in standard rotation alongside the likes of Final Fantasy releasing in June and Spiderman sometime in the Fall of 2025.
